I’ve never really understood Hugh Keevins.

I have reported on his comments regarding Celtic over my tenure at Vital Celtic and I have to say some I disagreed with vehemently, some I didn’t (which didn’t happen very often) but I do wonder where his thinking lies when he talks anything Celtic.

Take today, for example.

Pre match, the veteran journalist was talking Celtic’s weaknesses and he pinpointed one that he felt would be advantageous to Rangers in todays Glasgow Derby.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins said, “Where I think they [Rangers] can capitalise today, Anthony Ralston has had a great resurgence at Celtic Park.

“He has been excellent. People had written him off. There was no future for him at Celtic Park but under Ange Postecoglou, he has prospered.

“Even making it to the fringes of the national team squad.

“However, Ryan Kent is a formidable opponent and I think there might lie the key issue in the game.

“I don’t think that Anthony Ralston can handle Ryan Kent.”

Utterly bizarre. For two reasons.

Firstly, Ralston has not put a foot wrong at Celtic this season. Not once.

He has been a stalwart for Postecoglou in his defensive duties and attacking prowess but his no nonsense tackling has made him one of the toughest defenders in the league.

Secondly, Kent has been posted missing in this fixture this season. And I include the Scottish Cup game in that.

He has been the square root of disappointment and for Hugh to label him ‘formidable’ is absolutely just cringeworthy and cheerleading of the highest order.

And I am delighted that Ralston more than held his own.

It was an easy pot shot by Hugh and if he even put a modicum of thought into these comments before saying them, I am sure he would not repeat them.

I mean, formidable??? Embarrassing.

In all honesty Anthony has been brilliant this season, however JJ is our main RB. Ralston was found absent on at least 2 occasions. Thing is most fullbacks do lose their man and Borni Backpost did a similar crime and Jota Scored, Kunt didn’t. So sometimes luck plays it’s part. Anthony Ralston is much maligned, but i’d still take him before Tavvpen at RB.

    Please don’t take Keevins seriously.
I like Ralston a helluva lot. He’s been brilliant this season.
Kent missed a sitter coming in on Ralston’s
    bllind side.
Rangers goal came from a shot Ralston failed to block.
Keep up all your great work Tony.
