There has been a lot of opinions thrown around about Celtic misfit, Leigh Griffiths.

Everyone and their dog has had their say about the on loan Hoops striker and it seems most are of the same opinion that 31 year old forward’s days at Celtic are probably all but over.

Former Hibs striker Tam McManus also believes that Griffiths‘ time at Paradise is up and hopes that he will take the opportunity at Dens Park to revitalise his flailing career and not become one of footballs journeymen like he did.

McManus burst onto the scene way back in 1999 making his debut for Hibs against Stranraer. After six years at the Hibees, McManus career was a rollercoaster as he flitted from club to club, never really finding a “home”.

After spells at eleven different clubs over s fifteen year career, McManus eventually ended his days at junior level playing for Gartcairn before he finally succumbed to injury and retirement.

Speaking on The PLZ Soccer Show, McManus believes Griffiths needs to knuckle down before he sees his own career ending the same way as his, “I don’t think he’ll kick another ball for Celtic.

“I think he will be a great signing for Dundee.

“I really genuinely hope, and I don’t know him as a person, but because of his talent I want to see him going to Dundee and scoring goals and get himself back. Get his head right and back scoring goals and fit.

“He’s taken a lot of flack, but he’s not himself. I’m not condoning some of the stuff he has done, but he has took a lot of flack.

“Now he’s just got to concentrate. He’s 31 years old.

“Just go out and train hard every day, be dedicated on the pitch, score goals and recover well.

“He’s still got time to have a really good end to his career, rather than just fading away to League Two or playing in the juniors.

“He is too good for that, and I hope he doesn’t waste it.”
