“I hear Ange Postecoglou in my head” – Hugh Keevins slaps down Champions League excuses

I believe this season is going to be one of the most exciting seasons we have witnessed for a few years.

And the reason I say that is because this team that Ange Postecoglou has assembled is just going to better and better the more the season goes on.

They now have had a full year together, a full preseason and the manager has had the opportunity to get across his ideas which we saw on Sunday against Aberdeen.

But a Celtic fan made an interesting point on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

The fan suggested that with the club playing in the Champions League this season, a psychological advantage will be held by Celtic as they will inevitably be playing their domestic league matches 24 hours ahead of their rivals, should they fall into the Europa League competition.

Hugh Keevins dismissed this idea. And for the second time this week, I am in agreement with him.

And when you read what Hugh says, you will too.

Speaking on the show, Keevins replied to the fan, “I hear Ange Postecoglou in my head, and I hear Ange saying the only thing that will affect Celtic and the retention of the title will be Celtic.

“It wouldn’t be when Rangers play and it will have nothing to do with any other factor.

“For me, I go back to last season.  32 games, none of them lost by Celtic.

“Consistency won Celtic the league.

“And again, I go back to what Ange Postecoglou said at the weekend.

“He’s not cutting anyone any slack, no, ‘It was only the first day of the season, it will get better’.

“He said the season has started and that’s the attitude he will take all season.”

This is a message that Ange had hammered home all last season.

He focuses on only what Celtic do. No one else.

He concentrates solely on what we can control. And what we can control is what happens in our next fixture.

Postecoglou is not one for buying into mind games or psychological advantages.

Hell, he went through enough of those last season when he was being told in October that the league looked like it was over by various members of the journalistic media.

One thing you can be sure of is this.

Ange will be fully focused on Celtic. Nothing else.

All the rest outside of that is just noise.

Honestly, shugh is not a barometer for anything. Saint Paddy, I love a lot of your stuff but don’t give this guy any credence. Definitely don’t have him as being on the same wavelength as Ange. HH
