With all the transfer talk focused on who will be coming into the club as well as leaving, there is one area that Celtic must look at and it is to KEEP players who are already there.

Players like Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie who’s contracts are running down either must be sold, or signed up on a longer term deal.

Whilst Edouard looks a cert to leave the club in the summer, there still remains a school of thought that Christie may stay at the club, especially now as he seems to be enjoying his football under Ange Postecoglou.

Speaking on Go Radio, Hartson was waxing lyrical about the Scotland midfielder and offered the Hoops fans massive hope that Christie could be staying at Celtic Park, “He’s come back this season a different player hasn’t he?

“He’s been absolutely outstanding in all the friendlies in the early league games in the Europa League qualifiers.

“He really has. He’s been Celtic’s best player at times and the amount of ground that he covers and his passing is absolutely magnificent.

“You know his general play. And sometimes I’m scratching my head thinking how are they allowed his contract to go down to the situation that it is.

“Now I’m sure they’ve offered him a new deal. I’m absolutely positive of that.

“I hope bringing in Ange,  the new manager and the way that Celtic are playing, there’s a feelgood factor .

“They’ve got a magnificent centre forward in Kyogo and a  fantastic right sided player in Abada.  There’s gonna be more and hopefully that Ryan Christie will want to be a part of this sort of team now with with Ange Postecoglou..

“But I don’t know what his agents are saying and I don’t know what’s happening inside the club.”

If what Hartson says is true, then why hasn’t he signed on? Or more importantly, is his current form got to do with trying to play himself into a better deal or onto a new club?

Hopefully we will get the answer to that question soon. Hopefully it will be a four year deal. Hopefully.
