As the news is currently widespread of Roy Keane potentially becoming the next Celtic manager, ex Celtic defender, Gary Caldwell, has stunningly revealed that the Manchester United legend has been taking League Managers Association (LMA) Courses in preparation of returning into top level management.

Speaking on last nights Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Caldwell spoke of genuine respect for Keane and revealed that the ex Republic of Ireland icon has attended many courses to help improve his knowledge of the game, “I think Keane, Butt and Gerard on a Glasgow Derby touchline would be explosive. He’s someone I’ve got to know about a little bit through some LMA courses I have done recently, and he’s been on them.

“Growing up, he was my hero. Watching that Man United team, a fantastic midfield player. He had everything great competitor, a good footballer and had early success as a manager at Sunderland and it didn’t go quite so well at Ipswich.

Roy Keane for next Celtic gaffer?

NO

“On the courses I’ve been on with him, he is somebody that talks with a lot of passion, a lot of knowledge of the game, and he’s somebody that wants to get back into football management.  I think he’s a brilliant pundit. He’s fantastic at it but he keeps coming on these courses. He keeps wanting to learn and improve and looks like he wants to get back in in management at some point.”

Keane famously knocked back the Celtic job back in 2014 as he was apparently unhappy with the package put together by the board, and Ronny Delia was eventually the man given the nod.

Since Keane was first mentioned for the job, I have been running a poll to canvas Celtic fans opinions on this site to gauge the feeling amongst the support of their feelings on this kind of appointment and with over 10,000 votes garnered, 78% of fans polled are against the Irish legend becoming the next Hoops boss.  But will this latest revelation by Caldwell alter the perspective of fans that reckon Keane has been out the game too long to take on the top job at Celtic Park?
