Celtic fans are enjoying the drama surrounding Steven Gerrard’s post-match comments after Rangers’ fixture against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday, believing the pressure is already getting to the former Liverpool star.

Gerrard was left furious with the decisions during the 90 minutes of that match after Alfredo Morelos was sent off and no cards were handed out to Dominic Ball after he conceded a penalty.

Claiming ‘the world is against us today‘, the Rangers boss suggested that decisions have been going against the club for years, feeding into a narrative that referees and the SFA are out to get the Ibrox club.

There’s no doubt that the standard of Scottish refereeing is incredibly poor, but these paranoid comments are rich irony considering the abuse Hoops fans have had in the past for bringing that up.

Gerrard is clearly trying to create a siege mentality, but taking that step so early into the season all feels a bit desperate. Is he cracking under the pressure already?

These Celtic supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…

  • Gerrard’s hardly likely to have seen any Rangers matches over the last 10 years so he has no idea of how well or badly they have been treated by match officials.
The exception of course will be that he will have either watched or attended games v Celtic where he would have been very much cheering on the Hoops.
Given the amount of hammerings handed out over the last few years the match officials greatest difficulty would have been keeping the score.
Goodness knows how Gerratd will cope with his team getting at doing at Celtic Park next month.

    • How do you figure that one out? He won’t have watched any Rangers games?
Even if he never watched them at the time, don’t you think he would’ve watched a few by now, you know, since he’s the manager?

    • He will have been fed the usual sevco tripe by the faceless backroom stirrers, but I am surprised he fell for it, I thought he would be his own man at sevco but obviously not.

  • Love the way you misquoted Gerrard.
“It feels like the whole world is against us today”, was the actual quote.
Notice the extra words that your unbiased(????????????) reporting left out?
    You’re welcome.
