After last night’s convincing 3-0 victory over Jablonec in the Europa League qualifier amid a welcome return of fans to Celtic Park,  attention now turns to the Hoops search for players (for at least a couple of days before Hearts visit to Paradise) and what key positions Ange Postecoglou is looking to strengthen as a matter of urgency.

With Kyogo Furuhashi hitting the ground running and winning the hearts of the Celtic support already, the guess work on where Celtic will look for a new striker has already begun.

With Odsonne Edouard’s future expected to carry on away from Paradise, the search for his replacement continues, even though Celtic are heavily linked with Thomas Henry.

John Collins, speaking post match on Celtic TV, said with the inevitability of Edouard leaving, the recruitment team and Postecoglou will have already begun the search, “I think there’s no doubt that the recruitment department and the manager will be looking for a new number nine.

“They’ll be scouring Europe, probably, Japan, because the likelihood is Edouard will go.

“There’s no point keeping a player who doesn’t really want to be here. He is not 100% focused and there’s an opportunity to get some decent money for him, because if they don’t sell him now then they’re going to get nothing for him.”

After the capture of Kyogo, I don’t think you will find any Celtic fans complaining that the club are having another look at Japan and the Far East to unearth the new Kyogo.

But time is running out and lets hope the manager has a go to list of targets from his old stomping ground!
