I still wonder how Kris Boyd got that gig at Sky Sports.
How he managed to get involved in a major footballing broadcaster when he can’t fathom the ability to be ability to be impartial will always be a mystery to me.
On today’s analysis of Celtic’s brilliant 4-2 away win at Dundee, the stats, according to Sky Sports make very impressive reading.
756 passes, 42 touches in the opposition box and another game with an incredible 81% possession, Boyd was asked, or told, that no matter the level of opposition, 81% is an incredible stat.
But in true, typical fashion, rather than give Celtic any credit, Boyd chose a different, but predictable tact, “Yeah it is, but I mean, I think Dundee has a large part to play in that.
“I mean there was one of the times in the in the first half, even a throw in there Dundee retreated and it was right on the corner flag and Dundee were on the halfway line.
“I think you’ve got to go and have a go at least try to get yourself back in.
“But the flip side of that is if you go and press good teams with a pace they’ve got, they’ll hurt you on the other end.”
No credit, not even a single compliment, but even when he does offer a single positive thing about the performance, he heads straight back to negativity, “Celtic, I thought going forward today, where excellent. I think the goals, the variety of the goals, the building and movement the speed but as James [McFadden] said there, you can say all you want in terms of winning the game, the two goals that Celtic lose are poor goals to lose.”
There are no words.
