I can’t stand listening or reading anything that Kris Boyd says.

Not because I’m so narrow-minded that I can’t take the opinion of someone that played for our rivals, but mainly because he can’t, for the life of him, remain balanced and impartial.

Or maybe it’s because most of the time he just talks nonsense.

But his latest suggestion this weekend on who Celtic should be looking to add to their ranks is just plain daft.

Speaking in The Sun, Boyd said Celtic should look to sign Ryan Porteous from Hibs as the defender’s contract is up at the end of the season, “Porteous has every attribute needed to thrive at Ibrox or Parkhead.

“He’s fast, a good passer of the ball and aggressive.

“Sometimes he is over-aggressive, but I don’t mind that in the centre half.

“Not every player has what it takes to play for the Old F**m.

“But the Hibs stopper has shown previously, and proved again in midweek, that he is cut out for the big occasion.”

Not for me. Not even for free.

Porteous is far too rash in the challenge and a great passer of the ball?

Let’s look at the stats of Porteous against Celtic’s FOURTH choice centreback, Stephen Welsh [Sofascore]:

Stephen Welsh:

Season 20/21

Passing Accuracy: 89%

Clearances per game: 3.9

Possession lost: 9.2 times

Season 21/22

Passing Accuracy: 92%

Clearances per game: 2.2

Possession lost: 7.0

Ryan Porteous:

Season 20/21

Passing Accuracy: 77%

Clearances per game: 4.9

Possession lost: 13.8

Season 21/22

Passing Accuracy: 80%

Clearances per game: 3.6

Possession lost: 13.0

So in what way is Porteous suited not only to our style of play but better than what we already have?

Boyd should just stop talking about Celtic and leave it to the people that know what they’re talking about or better still, do some research?
