Most of us had to Google him to find out who he was when he was appointed the manager of Celtic.
I remember the day the Eddie Howe move broke down and I was the first site to break the news that Ange had become the favourite to replace Neil Lennon.
At the time I questioned the board’s leadership and called it inept and amateurish. Not because they were hiring Ange, but because of how they handled the Eddie Howe situation.
But one thing that was completely apparent was that Ange didn’t need to use Google to find out about us.
He was already steeped in the history of the club and that is why we love the guy so much.
And former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie reveals an encounter with the Celtic boss that convinced him not only about the Aussie’s knowledge of Celtic but also his long term vision for the club.
Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said, “He is quite funny.
“He likes to wind people up, you can always tell when he calls people ‘mate’ that they have asked a stupid question.
“I have spoken to him a couple of times and he has been great. He knows everything about the club because he knew who I was.
“He has got a sense of humour and I think he likes it in Glasgow. I am pleased because I think he is going to stick around for a while. Every job that comes up he will be linked with but he is wanting to make a statement with Celtic.“
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Ange is here for the long term.
Look at what he has built already. Do you really think he would walk away from this team whilst he is on the cusp of legendary status?
No chance.
