New Celtic signing, Patryk Klimala, has been met with a mixed response from Hoops fans with the 21-year-old Poland under-21 international said to have agreed terms on a four and a half year contract from Jagiellonia Białystok as reported by the BBC Sport website.
Klimala is rumoured to be costing the Celts £3.5m as they look to secure a reliable back-up to Odsonne Edouard with both Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo failing to hit the heights this season, he may also be seen as a long term successor to Edouard with the Frenchman believed to be a £30m target of Leicester City.
The youngster has 7 goals in 18 appearances this season for Bialystok and little else is known about the forward with news outlets scrambling for former team-mates to give their judgements on the striker.
Will Patryk Klimala be a success at Celtic?
Yes
No
Celtic fans are unsure what to expect from Klimala with many wishing they had gone for a more known quantity in the shape of Lawrence Shankland at Dundee United.
The truth is that as a club Celtic cannot afford superstar strikers. We have to find rough diamonds & take a punt on them, it’s a gamble. Patryk Klimala looks a promising young player, very fast & a good finisher. We should get behind him. HH 🍀 pic.twitter.com/97cpqQXcst

I don’t understand what Klimala has that Shankland doesn’t 🤷🏼♂️ baffled we chose Klimala! Hope he proves me wrong but his personality/stats are nothing compared to wee Lawrence!

Good insight about Klimala, hopefully hits the ground running. Don’t think fans expect us to sign an EPL striker. I think most, like myself, were hoping for someone with similar stats to Sporar, a proven scorer with European experience.

I think its a good move, with Sinclair gone Klimala should have plenty of oppertunties to hit the ground running

Polish fans and journalists are in genuine bemusement at us signing Klimala, yet dafties on here are comparing him to Larsson, Vardy, Dembele and Lewandowski

That comes down to reading the play better, then. If he’s constantly doing that, then he’s not learning. In terms of signings, you’re right, money is no guarantee, but I’d rather have given Dundee Utd 2 or 3 million quid for Shankland and taken a chance with him, than Klimala

Time will tell if Klimala is a success at Parkhead although, given the pressurised nature of footballing life in Glasgow and how close the Scottish Premiership title race is this season, time is a luxury that he probably won’t be afforded given the rumoured transfer fee,
