Celtic supporters have been left disappointed by the Scottish Football Association’s recent statement on referees and Scottish football disciplinary system.
Hampden officials made their case for officials and the compliance officer in a detailed statement that will do little to soothe fears that they are not taking current controversies seriously.
Scottish FA Statement: Referees and Disciplinary System
— Scottish FA (@ScottishFA) February 22, 2019
The debate around the standard of refereeing has rumbled on all season, with many feeling there is no consistency in decisions and also that there is a lack of accountability for officials who make bad mistakes.
With confusion surrounding the role of the compliance officer too, it’s led to almost nobody being happy with the current set-up.
Fans and clubs across the country have taken issue with the decisions coming from Hampden and given they’ve just launched such a staunch defence, are they willing to change at all?
These supporters were deeply unhappy with their Friday stance and took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
While yes, you have to take this kind of line in public, I hope that in private you're as appalled as the rest of us by the Benny Hill showreel of cheek-burningly bad howlers that your lads are committing on a weekly basis, and plan to genuinely address it.

sfa been shown repeatedly to be inept at running our game. With social media they are not able to hide. People had enough, paying crazy prices to have ruling body and referees ruin games. It’s time for a clean out from top to bottom and transparency in everything that’s done

There’s absolutely no desire from the SFA to improve the standard of refereeing in this country. What we need is an unbiased good referees without links to organisations or any clubs.

Utter nonsense by the SFA. It is high time you need to appoint referees from outside Scotland, who are both impartial and of a better quality.

Did you get Dave king to write that? It sounds like one of his waffling obfuscations.

Ian Maxwell is nothing more than a stooge and a yes man, lovely bloke but a puppet at best. Sorry Ian

People are going to make mistakes, fair enough. The sheer volume of them this season is ridiculous as refs who make multiple blunders get handed big game after big game. For the money they earn every year it should be a full time job with bonus and disciplinary
