Out of all the articles I have read over the last few days this has to be the most bizarre thing I have ever put my eyes on.

Sun journalist Bill Leckie took to the internet to write what can only be described as the most outlandish attack on the Celtic fans I have seen.

Over the last week we have seen people like Ewan Murray, James Whale and Piers Morgan wade into the Green Brigade banner debate and this time we have Bill Leckie lined up to take aim next.

His opening paragraph is absolutely bizarre, “CALLUM McGREGOR looked dismayed while Ange Postecoglou must have felt betrayed.

The rest of the watching world? We couldn’t have been any less surprised.”

Did McGregor look dismayed? Considering the article has a photo of the Celtic captain with his back turned to the banners I think that is very unlikely.

And in what way would Ange have felt betrayed? The Celtic gaffer was at pains all week to tell the headline-hungry hacks that the club will fulfil it’s obligations and so will the team and it was not his place to tell others what to do.

And lastly, if you were surprised then you would need to have been in a dark closet all week because everyone and their dog knew there was some form of protest lined up by the Celtic fans against the establishment.

It was an article filled with seething anger aimed at one set of supporters.

Let’s just forget that the Everton, Liverpool, Notts Forest and Spurs fans all booed the minute’s silence [Vital Celtic] and that the Hearts fans chanted “F**k the Queen” and Dundee United fans sang “Lizzies in a box”. That never happened did it?

Leckie wrote, “Sick to the stomach of the decision to applaud at Paisley rather than standing silent like the rest of sport because one stand-full couldn’t be trusted to shut their mouths for 60 seconds.

“Sick that none of the three clubs shamed by their fans have had the balls to call them out.

Did Dundee United not release a statement?

“Sick that the self-appointed moral compass who is Sky anchor Eilidh Barbour didn’t even mention what happened at Paisley yesterday, even though it went on no more than a couple of yards from where she sat.

Wow. This is the best bit. Why should she? She never calls out other fans chanting and sectarianism whenever it is heard on Sky Sports? Hell, Sky Sports don’t even apologise for it.

Taking aim at someone that had absolutely nothing to do with the protest? That’s really something.

“Sick, even, of my own club for cutting the away allocation from two stands to one — because it was still one stand too many.

“Seriously, I’d rather play in an empty stadium than fill it with people who only turn up to spread poison.”

Be careful what you wish for as the club is asking for a £30 donation from their fans because they cut allocations at their own request.

It sounded like a good idea at the time, but with the cost of living crisis……….

Look, I have said countless times on here it is as much as the Celtic fans’ and other fans’ right to protest as it is for others to believe that an enforced minutes silence or applause should be respected.

I’m glad this week is over. I’m glad we can focus on the football after the international break.

We are always told by the beaks that we need to keep politics out of football. Can someone tell me what this week was all about then?

It’s the dreaded international break. So take away the boredom and try our *BRAND NEW* quiz. Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
