Well, that’s something you don’t hear every day.

Ange Postecoglou ‘clearly likes’ a player? And here was me thinking that the Celtic manager has made is clear that he never gets too close to players in his sides.

Obviously, Anthony Joseph means he likes the players ability, but it was a nice throw away line by the journalist.

With the transfer speculation surrounding the club all focused around Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis, this update on Stephen Welsh is one that this site reported on yesterday:

Young Welsh has found game time hard to come by this season. With fleeting appearances so far, Welsh’s most high-profile match was, unfortunately, when he partnered Moritz Jenz in the centre of defence in the 2-0 loss to St Mirren before the turn of the year.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt out due to injury for that match, Welsh was part of an unconventional defensive pairing that many reporters and pundits claimed the 22-year-old was bullied by St Mirren’s forwards.

That loss ended almost a full calendar year’s unbeaten run and since the Scotland u21 international Welsh has only featured twice in wins against St Johnstone and Motherwell.

Clearly requiring more game time football and falling further down the pecking order since the arrival of Yuki Kobayashi, hopefully, Welsh will be loaned out to see how he copes with first-team football before the club decide to permanently make a decision on his future.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
