Last night, Vital Celtic reported that Hoops summer target, Fernando Henrique could be set to leave Gremio this season.

Due to the Brazilian club being relegated from the top tier, Serie A, it was reported that the Clube de Todos (Club for All) could be initiating a fire sale of a raft of top team stars to mitigate the financial implications of dropping into Serie B.

With The Daily Record reporting that Gremio’s right back, Vanderson set to be the first casualty in the transfer window with his transfer to Brentford on the cards, The Record reported that it was understood Henrique was the next player set to leave the Arena do Gremio.

This prompted speculation that Celtic may make an attempt to lure the defensive midfielder to Glasgow.  With the Hoops said to have been chasing Henrique in a £3.5m deal in the summer, it did seem like that with a cut price deal on the table, Ange Postecoglou could have been tempted to make an offer.

Not so says Football Scotland.

It is their understanding that reports of interested from the Parkhead club are ‘wide off the mark’.

They also believe that outwith the three players already targeted from the Japanese J League, there will be no more additions to the squad apart from the permanent addition of Jota to the team.

That will be music to the Celtic fans ears as they have been desperate for the Portuguese winger to sing on permanently at Celtic Park and it seems like the club are prepared to activate the £6.5m clause this winter window.
