Celtic are still looking for that Odsonne Edouard replacement. Yes, he’s not left the club yet but I think we are all resigned to the fact that the big Frenchman is a cert to leave the club this summer.

With a move to Leicester City breaking down last month, there is no doubt the talented striker will find the move that he has been looking for since last season.

With Edouard moving into the last year of his contract, the club should be looking to offload him sooner rather than later and what the Celtic fans will be hoping for is that every single penny recouped will be reinvested back into the team.

One man that has been touted for a move to the Hoops is Senegalese hitman and Rennes striker M’Baye Niang.

The big striker had a disappointing season last season but that hasn’t stopped French journalist Sebastien Denis tweeting tonight that Celtic, alongside Fenerbache and Shanghia Greenland, are looking to sign the front man this summer:

The tweet translates to:

“As reported in Italy, the Italian team from Venezia is very very hot on M’baye Niang for a dry transfer. Fenerbahce, Celtic Glasgow and Shanghai Greenland are interested in the Rennes striker but to a lesser degree.”

There is no doubt with the issues of Leigh Griffiths and the impending departure of Edouard, the Celtic forward line will need strengthened before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August but is Niang the answer to Celtic’s striking problems? Personally, I don’t think so.
