As the dust settles on Jeremie Frimpong’s  £11.5m move to Bayer Leverkusen, the young Dutchman took to social media to thank his team mates for his time at Celtic, the fans and also his “Gaffer”, Neil Lennon, ending speculation amongst fans of an apparent fallout between the player and manager.

Frimpong said in his Twitter message, wanna thank my teammates for their help, the Gaffer for his trust and all the @celticfc fans for their love! I will forever be grateful to Celtic and I wish you all the best in the future!

Frimpong made his big move yesterday and could not hide his delight at joining one of the biggest leagues in Europe, “I’m totally looking forward to the Bundesliga and, of course, this club in particular. Bayer 04 Leverkusen have regularly been in the Champions League and the Europa League.”
The German hierarchy also expressed their excitement at capturing such a young and talented player. Rudi Voller, Leverkusen’s Sporting Director, said, “Young, accomplished on the ball, versatile, with top pace and a very lively style of play – players like that fit in with the way we want to perform on the pitch,”
There is no doubt Celtic got a great deal for young Frimpong, but it is also clear that the right back is also highly regarded at his new club.
