With Celtic on the hunt for a new Chief Executive after Dom McKay’s seventy two day stint in charge of the club, the search for any tangible evidence on why the seemingly popular with the fans CEO left the club is on, as reporters and pundits give their insight and opinions at what is going on at the club.

One journalist that seems to have his finger on the pulse is Peter Martin. Out of everyone I’ve listened to or read, Martin seems to be the only one, as yet, to put a name to the reasons why McKay has left Paradise after such a short tenure.

Speaking on his PLZ The Football Show YouTube broadcast, Martin surmised, “What I would say is, if anything, we can all comment on rumours, gossip the chit chat of what we hear, if anything, in is short term in control as the CEO,  I just heard whispers of the difficulty of passing over the baton from Peter Lawwell.

“Peter Lawwell was not just the Chief Executive. He had so much other skills in other areas, and a lot of power.

“And he had a certain style of doing things, whether it be transfer deals or how he conducted things at the club.

“And Dominic McKay would have been a different person handling Celtic.

“And that for me was the only kind of whisper that I heard was the change in style of one Chief Executive to the next.

“But whether he was doing it well or not is something that everybody will debate once the real reason for his departure is out.”

If this is true, and it seems that Lawwell has just plonked another one of his right hand men in charge at Celtic in Michael Nicholson, the Hoops supporters wish that the club moves on from the Lawwell era is far from being granted.
