Well it’s Monday and there’s still no real update into the Dom McKay debacle.

With Celtic not of a mind to disclose any more details as to why McKay left and, quite rightly, the former CEO keeping his cards close to his chest, many journalists and pundits alike are still scratching their heads at the events of the last few days.

BBC Scotland pundit and journalist Tom English revealed on The Scottish Football podcast a hint at the background of the McKay and how he regarded the Celtic CEO position as his ‘dream job‘, “I don’t think anyone anticipated this there was no there was no rumours going around.

“I spoke to somebody close to Dominic McKay, who’s been in touch with him in the last three days, that person had no indication that there was anything in the pipeline.

“So I think everyone’s been blindsided by this for sure.

Michael Nicholson, the Director of Legal and Football Affairs is stepping into the role. He’s very experienced. Been with the club since 2013. He knows the ropes.

“So I think he will do the job in an interim basis. They will probably need a new chief executive at some stage.

“This was a dream job for Dom McKay.  Celtic fan all his days.

“Absolutely up for it in a major way. I spoke to him a number of times about it and he was totally and utterly absorbed in the job and was really, really looking forward to it.

“But he saw this as the big step up. This is the one that he was that he wanted and it’s gone as you say in 72 days. It’s over.”

So one can only deduce from that, it seems ever more likely that McKay was pushed.

The former CEO is highly unlikely to have walked away from a job that he was clearly proud to be in and was heavily invested in.

More questions are raised. Will the Celtic fans get the answers they are looking for?
