Here at Vital Celtic, I have reported on at least two occasions where reporter and journalist Mark Guidi has tipped Callum McGregor for a move away from Celtic.

On two separate occasions on The Go Radio Football Show, the most recent less than 5 days ago, Guidi said of the now Celtic captain,  “Some people have told me that Callum McGregor still has an itch to go down south and try the English Premier League, which is totally understandable.

“Now, and if that’s the case then there needs to be an honest conversation with him and with his representatives.

“An approximate transfer fee would need to be established, but maybe the captaincy will swing it, maybe it won’t.”

It seems like it has. And hopefully Guidi will stop touting McGregor for moves away from Celtic as clearly, he is more than happy at the club.

And also back in May he said of McGregor, “I know of at least, AT LEAST, two English Premier League teams that are interested in him. Callum McGregor is one that’s going to be sought after.

“So that’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out with the new manager and the new hierarchy at the club.”

No bids materialised. Nothing concrete from those “two” clubs that were apparently interested in him. Nada. Zilch

Responding to the press of his appointment as Captain, McGregor said,  “To be the Celtic captain is a great honour for any player, and to be given the captaincy is a very proud moment for me and my family,”

So maybe now Mark Guidi will give it a rest. McGregor is going nowhere and his main focus now will be to get Celtic back to the summit of Scottish football.
