It’s the longest running soap opera saga since “Who shot JR” (for the younger readers it’s the equivalent of “Who is the fourth man?”) but there has been an exciting update on the Eddie Howe situation that should, hopefully, shed some light on the deafening silence from the power beaks at Celtic Park.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, reporter Rob McLean revealed that an announcement on Howe becoming the Celtic manager is imminent and that there are a few ‘contractual issues’ needing sorted out before he can be formally announced, “All Celtic fans are desperate for some news and the feeling is that there will be some news, maybe even this week, we will find out. And presumably it’s just a matter of time before it is formally announced that Eddie Howe is in the job.

“I’m hearing that there might be contractual things going on. There might be links still back to Bournemouth and reasons why he can’t be appointed as the Celtic manager till the end of the season. But in between times there’s been this massive void hasn’t there  of information, even hints being dropped by the Celtic hierarchy, that everything was under control.”

As we wait with baited breath, an announcement this week would be extremely well timed with the season ticket renewals ready to be sent out to the fans. But with the wall of silence not ready to be breached yet, could there be yet another twist to this sorry tale that would sum up Celtic’s season should the board lose out on their top target?

With only a few days left of the week, time is running out for this prediction to come true.
