“Rodgers didn’t want him” ,”All these folk slagging him off have no idea what he does behind the scenes” – The backroom debate rages again

|

I love fan opinion pieces. I really do.

There’s nothing better than reading how fans view players, backroom staff or boardroom members and one that has been a divisive character in terms of opinion is first team coach John Kennedy.

And I thought we had moved past this as well but it seems that with the imminent arrival of Harry Kewell as one of Ange’s right hand men, the debate over Kennedy rages on.

On Celtic Facebook page Glasgow Celtic Supporters, the hoops fans debated the role of John Kennedy and there was a lot of differing opinions:

Derrick Brown: “Rodgers didn’t want him”

Chris Gemmell:Derrick Brown Rodgers wanted the full coaching team including Duff, Woods and Kennedy who all chose to stay.

“Duff had only just joined, Woods and Kennedy had loyalty to the club as they had been there under many managers before them.

“Rodgers said in an Interview after he joined Leicester that those 3 told him they didn’t want to leave, Rodgers even tried to poach a physio also.”

George Donnelly: “All these folk slagging him off have no idea what he does behind the scenes.”

Robert Leckenby: “Still can’t believe he gets criticised. We have won 17 trophies with him on the coaching stage. If Rodgers and Ange didn’t rate him they would have got rid of him.”

Brendan Harmon:  “Here we go again putting up one of our own to be slagged by some of our so called genuine fans keyboard warriors on fire, pity we can’t stop this bulls**t been posted.”

Colin Turnbull:  “Must be doing a half decent job considering the success we’ve had over the last years!!! Don’t think Ange suffers fools gladly tbh… onwards you victory bhoys!!! Trust the process!!!”

Stephen Currie: “Well I personally think he is doing his job. He is a Celtic man through and through. Won the league under a few managers so leave him alone.”

Personally, I think that Kennedy needs to be left alone. The narrative against the coach is now becoming tedious.

And think of it this way, do you seriously think that if Kennedy really wasn’t highly rated at Celtic he would have survived managers like Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou?

Exactly.

It’s about time John was left alone and let him get on with the brilliant job he does at our club he must be highly regarded with all the managers he has worked with at Celtic.

Neil Lennon had Johan Mjallby, Gary Parker and Alan Thompson on his back room staff and hard as they tried couldn’t win the treble. Lenny won it with Kendo at his side, ask any coach to put their medal’s on the table against JK there’s only one winner, we should be relishing the guy’s service to the cause not giving him grief.
