This story, when it broke, sent a wave of excitement through the Celtic support, especially on twitter.

The ever excellent Bhoys Analytics twitter account described Henry as “deceptively quick” and also listed his attributes that will please the Celtic fans, especially his work rate:

“Runs off defenders

“Physical and Aerial presence

“Finds space in the box with ease

“Great link up play

“Deceptively quick and technical on the ball.”

The account also posted a video of Henry’s goals here and his finishing is exquisite.

With Ange Postecoglou saying he expects new signings to arrive within the next seven days AND with the expected departure of Odsonne Edouard this week, the Hoops faithful will be hopeful that deals will be finalised and announced before the visit to Ibrox on the 29th August.

Celtic have reportedly offered £7m for Henry and although they are in pole position to land the big hitman, reports from French media outlet have sent a stark warning to the Celtic board that they face stiff competition from Serie A and Ligue 1 for the 26 year old’s signature.

Get French Football News has said that French side Bordeaux and Italians Venezia have now entered the queue to try and prise Henry from Leuven which could worry the Parkhead powerbrokers as a potential bidding war could arise in the next few days, forcing up the price for the Frenchman.

But if you want quality, you have to pay for it. Celtic paid the money for Edouard, look at the player we got, despite his form over the last season.

Furuhashi and Abada are also proof that if you pay the money, you get a quality player.

With Celtic expected to receive a minimum of £18m for Edouard, and in the market for a striker, the money is there.

It is whether or not the Celtic board are willing to pay it.
