With still no new manager in place, the transfer rumour mill has been slowly but surely bubbling away in the background. With Celtic linked to various targets over the past few weeks, it’s no surprise that yet another striker has been tipped to land a move to Paradise.

Celtic face starting the new season with only one recognised striker with the expected departures of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths in the summer compounded by Patryk Klimala leaving last month, the focus on assembling a new striking partnership will be first and foremost a priority for the new manager.

The Hoops have been linked with Peterborough striker Jonson Clarke-Harris to replace the outgoing Edouard in the summer. Clarke-Harris has been in sensational form for The Posh this season scoring thirty two goals in forty seven appearances.

His tally has helped push Peterborough into second place in League One to automatically gain promotion into the English Championship and with that type of form he has caught the eye of several clubs including Glasgow rivals, Rangers.

The Posh owner, Darragh MacAnthony, labelled his striker as “fantastic” and admits it may be a struggle to hold onto his main man, “Peterborough United can never pay players £25/30,000 a week, there will be seven or eight clubs already offering Jonson Clarke-Harris, Dembele, that kind of money.

“He’s been fantastic, the best player in League One the best goalscorer in England and if we can keep him, brilliant, because he’ll be worth double by January in the Championship.”

And therein lies the problem. If Celtic do not make their move this season or in the summer, we could be looking at another Ivan Toney-esque transfer blunder that could come back and haunt us.
