According to The Scotsman, Celtic are reluctant to pay £4m for the services of Bernabei but where are they hearing that from?
I know they cite the Daily Record for the report, but that same report also claims that the deal is ‘close’ but no mention of reluctance to pay the price.
Yes, the club are haggling but that is what all clubs do. They don’t just pay the first quoted price. They negotiate a good deal.
Celtic would be negligent if they didn’t.
Anthony Joseph said the clubs were ‘some distance apart’. Not that Celtic are not willing to pay.
Argentine journalist Seba Ongarelli said the player is ‘on his way’. No mention about Celtic refusing to pay the fee.
And just last week, reports claimed a bid was submitted. Celtic are willing to pay, but what they won’t do is pay over the odds.
It just seems a rather bizarre way to word what is actually happening.
That Celtic are negotiating a deal for the player. Plain and simple.
I’ve never heard of any other transfer rumour to be reported in such a fashion.
Maybe I’m just a paranoid Celtic fan.
