The BBC journalist takes a lot of stick from Celtic fans.

Hell, this site has given him a lot of stick for some of his analysis of Celtic and our players but I feel in the interests of balance and fairness, it is only right that his recent comments about Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou are highlighted because of their positivity.

Earlier today I had written about the Celtic managers classy response to a referee question posed by BBC journalist Kenny McIntyre and how Postecoglou refused to be drawn into John Beaton’s performance.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, English said, “Thinking I was trying to remember. I was trying to remember, has he had any blast at any official?

“Maybe he has.

“Maybe I’m open to correction here, but I can’t remember one. Or what I definitely remember was the last the Scottish Cup semi final a lot of Celtic fans were furious at the officiating and Postecoglou did not give any credence to that whatsoever.

“And I thought, ‘That’s strength.’ You know, the manager, that’s strength.

“He has to be asked the question, particularly the Scottish Cup semi final where there were a few contentious things happened but he said all the referee didn’t have any bearing on the game.

“Bear in mind they lost the game and it would have been easy for him to have a go but he doesn’t.

“I think he’s been consistent on that. I certainly can’t remember him having a go at any official now.

“And that’s a great trait.”

Decent praise from Tom who usually is a harsh critic of the club, but to be fair, not the manager.
